Have you ever won the lottery? Me, I've won a couple of times already. About a hundred million pesos in total, but I've never touched the money.

I'm talking about this scam text message saying, "CONGRATULATIONS! You've won P12,345,678.90!! Your cellphone number was randomly chosen in our monthly drawing. To claim the prize, call me immediately. I'm ATTY. Pekeng Abugado, President of SuperRich Company. Per DTI-NCR Permit No. 54321." I get so irritated whenever I receive messages like this. Once I replied, "Sayo nalang yung prize ko because I am richer than you." He didn't reply. After a few weeks, he sent the same message, but using a different number.

The negative effect brought by unlimited texting. *sigh*

Another kind of text messages I usually receive are those chain messages. Here are some I remember:

"***** These are money stars. Send this to 30 friends. If 7 comes back, you will be rich at the end of the month."
-Well, I have never heard of a money star in my Science class. Besides, those are not stars. They're asterisks.

"My name is (I forgot). I was murdered 20 years ago, blah blah blah... If you don't send this to 66 people within 6 minutes, I will appear on your bedroom at 12 midnight. See ya! :p "
-Sounds scary, but I waited til midnight and no one appeared. Whew.

"Make a wish before scrolling down...... Now, send this to 20 people in your contact list and your wish will be granted tomorrow. If you don't, you will have bad luck for 7 years."
-Let's just see after 7 years, ok? :))

I just don't know what they get for making this useless stuff. A few months earlier I received a text message saying the single lady Beyonce Knowles is dead. If I'm not mistaken, she and her mother died of plane crash. The source is Yahoo News. Of course I was shocked but I was not convinced. I checked on the evening news and there was nothing. I checked on Yahoo and still nothing. I think there was just a guy who had a boring life and thought he dances better than Beyonce so he told everyone she died.

Yesterday, a text message was circulating about the typhoon Pepeng. According to it, Meralco will shut down electric power at 9 in the evening because there will be heavy rains and strong winds. Later on, Meralco denied the spreading news. There was no blackout yesterday evening.

Well, I guess the lesson for this is that we should all be careful and prudent before sending or forwarding messages because we might scare others or cause panic.

Now, tell everyone you know about my new blog post or else you will have bad luck for the rest of your life. Nyahaha *wink*
