Songs of Patriotism

Many people have suffered the aftermath of the typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. Lives were lost, families were left homeless and properties were damaged. Few weeks have passed but some of them are still unable to recover from the damage done by the disaster.

The calamity has brought out the Bayanihan among the nation. The Filipinos, young and old, whether rich or poor, have not failed to show sympathy and response to those victims who call for help.

Rico Blanco, former vocalist of the band Rivermaya gave his sincere contribution by composing this song, entitled "Bangon". He hopes that this song would help raise more funds and donations for the victims. The song and the video show how Filipinos struggled and how we became united as one nation.

I was touched and inspired by the lyrics of the song, especially this part:
"at nagising ang bayanihan
milyon milyon naging isa
walang kami
walang kayo
walang sila
tanging ligaya
ay pag alay ng sarili sa iba"

I hope this wonderful song would reach your hearts and inspire you to pray for our country and help our countrymen.

Despite the damage brought by the typhoons, the beauty of the Philippines would never fade away. This is what Allan Pineda, better known as Apl.de.ap shows in his song, Take U to the Philippines. Apl.de.ap of Black Eyed Peas was born in the Philippines. Although he grew up in USA, he exhibits Filipino culture specifically in his songs.

Few days ago, Apl.de.ap went to the Philippines to help the victims of typhoons and to promote his music video with the Department of Tourism.

The music video shows the beauty of our homeland through vector graphics. I love how hip and modern the song is. I hope this video would encourage tourists to come here and see how good the Philippine archipelago is.
